WASHINGTON – The Peace Corps today invited U.S. higher education institutions to submit proposals to host returned Peace Corps volunteers as part-time, campus-based recruiters. The solicitation announcement for both community and four-year colleges, which is posted on SAM.gov, closes on May 11, 2026.

“By participating in the strategic campus recruiter program, eligible education institutions will receive federal funds to hire Peace Corps recruiters for their campuses,” said David Walker, the associate director for the agency’s Office of Volunteer Recruitment and Selection. “Our ‘strat’ recruiters, who have already served as volunteers, are highly effective at inspiring students to explore global service through the Peace Corps.

“By expanding the program to more schools, we will increase the Peace Corps’ presence on campuses across the country. It’s an integral part of the agency’s ambitious plan to have 8,000 volunteers in service by 2030 – more than double the number serving today,” Walker added.

For institutions, participation in the program builds long-term institutional partnerships with the Peace Corps while affording students increased opportunities to become part of the next generation of Peace Corps volunteers.

Peace Corps volunteers collaborate with community members on locally-prioritized projects, gaining skills and experience while fostering mutual understanding and promoting American values.
